Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to the most common questions about playing Durak online. If you cannot find what you are looking for, check our detailed guides below.
What is Durak and how do I play it online?
Durak is a classic attack-and-defense card game with trump cards. Our online version lets you play against real opponents in real time. Open the app, choose a room or game mode, and start attacking, defending, taking, and beating cards. Check our How to Play guide for the full rules.
How many players can join a game?
Each game supports 2 to 8 players depending on deck size: 24-card rooms support up to 4 players, 36-card rooms up to 6, and 52-card rooms up to 8. The default lobby size is 4 players.
What are Coins and Stars?
Coins and Stars are the two in-game currencies. Coins are the primary currency used for betting in games. Stars are a premium currency. When you enter a game, you choose a bet amount — the winner takes the pot minus a 5% house fee.
How long does each turn take?
Turn timers depend on room settings. If you run out of time, the server keeps the game moving with the appropriate automatic action for your role.
What happens if I disconnect during a game?
If you lose connection, the game waits briefly for you to reconnect. If you do not return in time, the system keeps the table moving with safe automatic actions. Frequent disconnections may affect your ranking.
What are Boosts and how do I get them?
Boosts are consumable power-ups you can activate during a game: Card Hint suggests the best card to play, Swap Card exchanges a card with another player, and Cancel Move undoes an opponent's last play. You can acquire boosts through the in-game shop.
How do Beat and Take work?
If the defender covers every attacking card, attackers can say Beat and the table is cleared. If the defender cannot or does not want to defend, they Take the attacking and defending cards into hand.
What is transfer mode?
In transfer mode, the defender can pass the attack to the next player by adding a card with the same rank as the current attack, as long as room rules and defender capacity allow it.
How does matchmaking work?
When you queue, the system matches you with players of similar skill. The process goes through three stages: Gathering (waiting for minimum players), Ready (5-15 second adaptive timer for more players), and Countdown (final 5-second countdown). See our Matchmaking page for details.
What are tournaments?
Tournaments are organized bracket-style competitions with larger prize pools. They go through stages: registration, bracket generation, elimination rounds, and finals. Check the Tournaments tab in the app for upcoming events and registration deadlines.
Is the game fair?
Yes. Card shuffling uses cryptographically secure random number generation. Matchmaking pairs players by skill level. All game rules are enforced server-side — no client can cheat the card logic.
How do I earn XP and level up?
You earn XP by playing games. Winning awards more XP than losing, and your first win of the day gives a bonus. XP accumulates toward your level, which is displayed on your profile and visible to other players.
Can I play with friends?
Yes. Create a Custom Game and share the invite link with your friends. They can join your private room directly without going through public matchmaking.
